He uses where he lives as his canvas and
includes everyday objects, however as it’s his home it is personal to him. His
photographs are taken in long exposure and he paints the scene with lights but likes
to leave a human presence within his photos. He wants his work to look similar
to a dream as it is loose, lacking in detail but has lots of colour.
What interested me about Heskeths work is
the colour that he uses, it is appropriate to the setting yet some of his
photographs have an edge such as the red within the green. Green is the natural
colour of plants yet the red is dancing within the plants, to me it looks as if it’s
on fire and the green swirly lines are the smoke. Also that there is a person
within the image but not all of the human is visible just the hand which match
what I think about the colour, they are asking for help. It has made me think about purposefully adding a person or other elements into my work to see if it adds depth.
