Carolyn Cochrane.

Carolyn Cochrane

(Self Directed)

Her work is nature based and she wants to portray its beauty through photography taking in the colour, shapes, and light. She choose photography as it is uncomplicated it gives the viewer exactly what she sees, and that different moods can be created by altering the light, colour or texture.

She uses light to create a warm feeling, almost magical. The light is coming from the back of the image making the front object bright and idyllic almost as if it has a halo. Even though there is no detail in the background just colour the viewer is able to imagine what would be there due to what is in the foreground. It looks like summer and the light is natural as it is from the sun, also peaceful as the plants are not moving they are still. Even with no bright colours, just the natural tones the place looks inviting. This has made me look at using light and turning an image into something nice and peaceful instead of something spooky and creepy, it is all dependent on the colour, light source and subject.
