Yayoi Kusama.

Yayoi Kusama

(Self Directed)

What interested me about Kusama was that she uses mirrors to make the room feel as if it is full and consumed by the light that looks like stars, to me it looks like a dream. This work intrigued me due to the fact that people are allowed into the room and can see and sense the room a full 360 degrees. It allows the audience to engage with the piece. The colours she uses I find are calm and surreal, it is magical as the lights are on a black background, the white and pale blues make them more dominate but not in your face. The mirrors make the room feel as if it is endless. This has made me understand that a piece does not have to be confined by a space, and that the audience can become part of a piece.
