Amy Shackleton
(Self Directed and Drawing Projects)
She uses paint
but the technique she has developed for her work is dripping instead of using
any other media to form the marks such as a brush, she uses gravity. The paint
is applied to the canvas carefully to make the marks and lines she wants.
What interested
me about Shackletons work are the colours, there are a variety of colours involved
and the blending of them has captured the landscape. What she has
painted is accurate and realistic due to everything being in proportion but I also find abstract and surreal due to the marks and colours, its unnatural. The way
that the lines go up to the sky it is as if the environment is being evaporated,
going into the sky. It is as if it is a make believing world with a hint of
normality. However I find that the taxi is out of place as it is the standard
normal colour and shape surrounded by the wrong colour. From this I will experiment with colour and mixing them together to find something appeal will working with marks. Also form my self directed it helped me understand light and the different coloured light in different areas.
