Victoria Horkan.

Victoria Horkan

(Drawing Project)

She likes to work with materials that have energy and pleasing qualities as well as layering the different materials. Her colour palette is organic this portrays movement; she wants the viewer to see that even the simplest form is beautiful and has emotion and fluidity.

What I found interesting about Horkan work is the colour that impacts the audience immediately. The colours are warm and looks as if they are blended together to form layers to show the movement of the animal. Even without the detail I am still able to see that it is a butterfly as the basic shape is given. The marks are loose, this gives the action that the butterfly is fluttering. It has made me think how just using colour to create a shape the image/object it can still be seen and given a name.
