Carlos Amorales.

Carlos Amorales

(Drawing Project)

His work is based on disguise and identity, he explores this by using different media but he also wants to explore his heritage of Mexico. He has also looked at fantasies and horrors and how these can be portrayed, he wants to create distortion and make the viewers feel sickly when viewing his work.

What interested me about this artist is the way he displays his work, they are coming off the wall, and he doesn’t stick to the restrictions of the wall. It’s as if there is a swarm of butterflies coming to attack as there is a vast amount in a small space. The contrast between the black butterflies on the white wall makes the butterflies more scary, the opposite of what we normally feel when we she a butterfly, beautiful and elegant. Once you closely look at them you can see that they are all different sizes but due to the fact that they are all in the same pattern and colour they all morph into one black mess. This had made me think about the amount of information I want to give to the audience and what I want them to feel.
