John Skinner.

John Skinner
Waiting for the Tide
550 x 300mm

An English artist who uses the media of painting specifically watercolours but uses it in a way that may be ridiculed by the more traditional artists. He has worked for Walt Disney therefore having experience in graphic work and has a skill for sign writing. His work is inspired by Devon, he enjoys exploring the land and sea, producing something that he sees for the people.

The Ness Shaldon
266 x 380 mm

What made me look more into Skinners work is how realistic his paintings are but is given away due to the way the water distorts the whole image. His work has a relaxing feeling this is due to the colour, as in most of his works the sun is setting making a warm orange and yellow cascade over the water. His images are still even though we know that there will be the ripple in the water, also the way the light reflex off the it makes it more dynamic and adds depth. Overall it creates a realistic affect.
